Bright green wheat grass shots are a favorite of Robeks regulars and curious first-timers
First-time customers are often curious when they walk into Robeks and see the bright green wheatgrass growing in a container on the counter.
Why wheatgrass?
It’s one of the healthiest foods that you can possibly put in your body.
A 1-oz. shot of wheatgrass juice has as many nutrients as 2 ½ pounds of typical garden vegetables. Health store shoppers have used it for decades to boost their immune system, add energy and improve digestion, and it has been a part of the Robeks menu since the first store opened in 1996.
Despite its long history of boosting health, wheatgrass can be hard to find. That’s one reason that hardcore health fans come to Robeks. The rarity is also why many new Robeks customers are surprised to see it — and the reason they are intrigued when they see other customers raising bright green shot glasses to their lips.

Lea Anderson and Miguel Nagtalon recently tried wheatgrass juice for the first time during a visit to a Robeks store in Los Angeles.
Lea was a bit nervous as she eyed the bright green drink.

“Oh, my, I’m so scared. So this is like grass?”
Yep, it’s grass. Fresh cut and juiced just for you.
“So, I just go?”
While she hesitated, Miguel grabbed his first-ever wheatgrass shot, tilted his head back and swallowed it down.
“Yeah, that’s pretty good,” he said.
Lea agreed after drinking her shot.
“Yeah, that’s pretty good actually. It’s very different, but it’s good.”
It tastes like grass, with an earthy, planty flavor and a sweet aftertaste. A lot of customers follow the shot with carrot juice.
Wheatgrass customers tend to become regulars. The drink packs a powerful nutritional punch, is incredibly unique, and can be hard to find outside of a Robeks store. Many of our customers say the energy burst compares well with drinking a latte, only much healthier.
